Obituary

Georgina "Genie" Mae Reynolds was born January 1st, 1932 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado to Margaret Smith. Genie spent most of her childhood in Manassa with her loving grandparents, George Essex Smith and Mae Smith. She loved spending time with her cousins who were also her best friends. She graduated from Manassa High School in 1949.

Genie married Phillip Reynolds on December 5th, 1949 in Taos, New Mexico and was later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 9, 1962. Together they welcomed two sons Ric in 1952 and Rod in 1958.

Genie was always a hard worker and went to work at the pea sheds in La Jara at the age of 14. She worked several other jobs and eventually began working at the bank in La Jara as a Teller and soon worked her way up to Vice President. She retired from banking after 25 years. Genie loved and supported her husband with his ranching and cattle business. She enjoyed spending summer days in the mountains with Phil tending to their cattle and later spending time with her sons and grandchildren at the cow camp in New Mexico.

Genie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend. She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many callings. Genie was involved in the San Luis Valley Cowbelles Association for many years. She also served as Secretary for the Valle Vidal grazing permit for many years. She enjoyed playing the card game "Bridge" with her friends. Genie loved watching all of her grandchildren participate in their many endeavors and was always there to support them.

She is survived by her sons Ric (Mariam) Reynolds of Sanford, Rod (Annette) Reynolds of Sanford; her grandchildren Rhonda, Ryan, Steven, Hannah, Troy, Kylan, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special cousins Colleen Crowther, Marie Fleming, and Curtis Smith.
