Obituary

Georgia Kay Kuykendall, affectionately known as Kay, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 12, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 2, 1940, in Kansas, she was the cherished daughter of George and Edna Mae Traxson Bradbury. Kay's life was a testament to love, kindness, and selflessness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kay's journey through life was marked by a profound love story that began with a chance encounter while selling salve. It was through this serendipitous meeting that she was introduced to Roy Dale Kuykendall by his grandparents. The couple wed on August 17, 1957, and shared 68 years of unwavering devotion and joy. Together, they raised a family that became the center of Kay's world.

A dedicated mother, Kay was predeceased by her son Randy Dale Kuykendall, her sister, Carol (Robert) Craig. She is survived by her loving husband, Roy Dale, and sons Danny Roy (Lori) Kuykendall and Lanny Dale (Tammy) Kuykendall, all of Tres Piedras, New Mexico. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Aimee (Mark) Gardner, Sara (Isiah) Kuykendall, Isiah Medina, Ryan (Destre) Kuykendall, Amber (Justin) Dorrill, Megan (Tyson) Strain, Branden Kuykendall, Aubri (Spur) Ross, and Austin (Olivia) Kuykendall. Kay's love and lessons will be cherished by her 15 great-grandchildren: Dakota, Sienna, Sidney, Kaci, Aspen, Kevyn, Brantley, Brycen, Austin, Kaylee, Dafnee, Maddee, Lynnlee, Latigo, and Orrin. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Gene (Georgia) Kuykendall along with many nieces and nephews who, along with the rest of the family, will miss Kay's warmth and guidance.

Professionally, Kay dedicated 30 years to the Tres Piedras school as a Secretary and Teacher Assistant, where she touched the lives of countless students and educators with her supportive and nurturing spirit. Prior to that, she served the community with a warm smile at the Adobe Diner, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.

As a devout Christian and Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kay lived her faith through her actions, showing unconditional love and grace to everyone around her. She was the embodiment of a loving, kind, and selfless individual. Her interests were simple yet profound: her family was her everything. She was a beacon of light in their lives, always the first to offer support and the last to judge. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was, in turn, their rock.

Kay's life was one of unwavering love and dedication to her family. She overlooked every fault, saw no bad in anyone, and was the epitome of the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother one could ever wish for. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Georgia Kay Kuykendall's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and selflessness. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends forevermore.
