Obituary

George David Zetzsche, a man of gentle spirit, faith-filled heart, and intelligent mind, passed away

peacefully on March 24, 2024, at Monte Vista Estates in Monte Vista, Colorado. Born on June 16, 1933,

in Bowie, Texas, to James B. and Clara Isabel (Delp) Zetzsche, George's life was a testament to hard work

and dedication.

As a truck driver, George's career had him crisscrossing the United States, connecting communities and

supporting the nation's economy. His roots, however, were firmly planted in the soil as he began his

journey as a farmer in Texas, tending the land with his own hands before continuing his agricultural

pursuits in Colorado.

George loved all types of vehicles, but he loved spending time in his 4-wheel drive Jeep traveling the

trails in the mountains most, especially in Red River, NM. He also raced his Jeep at the Canadian River in

TX. He has numerous trophies for his wins. One of the children's favorite pictures is of him waiting on

the lights to signal the start of the race with his helmet on and his cigar clamped in his mouth. He has

passed that pleasure on to his children. His service in the Army was a source of great pride, as was his

commitment to his Baptist faith.

Those George left behind to carry on his legacy includes sons Jim (Rachael) Zetzsche of Texas, Joe Don

Zetzsche of Texas, daughters Ann (Russell) Ives of Oklahoma, Cay Taylor of Texas and Bissy Anderson;

Grandchildren Logan (Marisela) Taylor, Austin Taylor, Branson Taylor, Alyssa (fiancé Tim) Taylor, Kyle

Zetzsche, Steven Zetzsche, Ashley Zetzsche, RaeAnn (Jasper) Havens, Tristan Alexander. Great

Grandchildren Cheyenne, Gabriel, Riley, Leon, Hazel, Farron and Arlyss; brother James B. (Ava Nette)

Zetzsche, sister Mary Lockhart, and sister-in-law Carol Zetzsche. George was preceded in death by his

parents James and Clara Isabel Zetzsche, his sister Lorraine Johnson, brother Robert Zetzsche and son-

in-law Trace Taylor. George Zetzsche was a wonderful man whose memory will be cherished and whose

absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Cremation has been chosen and his ashes will be taken to the mountains that he loved so much this

summer. Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements. To leave online condolences, tributes,
