Obituary

Manassa- Gary Lee Perley

Gary Lee Perley, a cherished family man, decorated veteran, and lover of the great outdoors, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024, in Alamosa, Colorado, at the age of 75. Born on December 17, 1948, in Salem, Oregon, Gary's life was one of service, commitment, and joyous adventure.

A graduate of Stagg High School in Palos, Illinois, Gary's formative years laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and hard work. His patriotic spirit led him to serve his country with distinction as a Green Beret in the United States Army. Gary's valor during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, M-14 Sharpshooter, and M-16 Expert.

After his military service, Gary found solace and purpose in the open expanses of nature. He had a deep passion for ranching and became an integral part of the T Bone Ranch family, engaging in various ranch activities such as irrigation and the raising of cows and horses. His love for the land and animals was matched only by his strong conviction in Christ, which was evident in his selfless devotion to his family and children.

Gary's interests were as wide-ranging as his skills. He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist, a tradition he cherished alongside his annual attendance at the Early Iron car shows with his daughter Crystal. Those who knew him will fondly remember Gary's "sarcastically wonderful" sense of humor, a trait that brought laughter and light to every gathering.

Gary's legacy is carried on by a loving and extensive family. He is survived by his children, Michael (Megan) Perley of Limestone, IL; James (Charles) Perley of Portland, OR; Andrea (Daniel) Trevizo of Pueblo, CO; Matthew (Pei) Kenning of Kildeer, IL; Angela (John) Krebsbach of Portland, OR; Crystal (Wesley) Marquez of Sanford, CO; Desira Perley of Missouri; Amber (Josh) Gylling of Grand Junction, CO; Sunnie (Jason) Foster of Longview, TX; Carson Perley of Monte Vista, CO; Lance Perley of New Lenox, IL; and Chris Perley. His legacy also lives on through his adoring grandchildren - Elias, Esaias, Natalia, Ashley, Rebecca, Emma, Peyten, Jordyn, Christian, Jaelyn, Atticus, Tiyke, Kearsten, Preston, Natalie, Kendrick, Conner, Shantel, Daniel, and Emilio. Also surviving is one brother, Michael Gray, and one sister, Pamalyn Garbish.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brothers, Louis Perley, Mitchell Gray, and his sisters Cyndee Sell, Pat, and Loretta Anders. Each of them played a significant role in his life, and their memories will remain forever intertwined with his own.

As per Gary and his families wishes there will be no services, and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
