Longtime Alamosa resident Esther Marie Lopez, 78, died February 22, 2024 at her home in Alamosa.

Esther's life began in Alamosa, Colorado on June 26, 1945, the daughter to Frank A. Mestas and Cordelia Maria Chavez Mestas. She married the love of her life, Vincent Lopez, in Conejos, Colorado on September 12, 1964. They have enjoyed more than 59 years together.

Esther worked in the Alamosa School District for 25 years, as a Secretary in the Administration offices. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending sport events, and gambling. Esther had a good sense of humor, and loved making people laugh and smile.

She is survived by her husband Vincent Lopez of Alamosa; her children Robert (Julie) Lopez of Alamosa, Anne Marie (Lenny) Lopez of Alamosa, and John (Jodie) Lopez of Parker, CO; her grandchildren Kristen Husmann, Tyler Lopez, Marisa Lopez, Emily Parker, Tyler, Kenison, and Makensie Kenison; her great-grandchildren Brooklyn Husmann, Paisley Husmann, Alison Parker, and Caden Parker; her brothers and sisters Arlene Mestas of Espanola, N.M., Judy (Denny Mercereau) Mestas of Alamosa, Frank (Patsy) Mestas of Alamosa, and John (Vicky) Mestas of Manassa, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Cordelia.

Cremation was chosen and a Recitation of the Rosary will be held 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa.
