Obituary

Alamosa resident Elnora Pearl Speiser, 97, died June 20, 2021 at The Bridge at Alamosa Assisted Living Center. Elnora was born in Manzanola, Colorado on September 28, 1923 to Franklin and Anna (Fellhauer) Hunter. She married Charles R. Speiser on February 21, 1946 in Albuquerque, NM. They enjoyed 51 years together until his death in 1997. She worked for 34 years and up to her retirement for Mountain Bell Telecommunications as a Switchboard Operator and in the business office. She was a long term member of Beta Sigma Phi. After she retired, Elnora did volunteer work and enjoyed helping others and the camaraderie with fellow volunteers. Following her husband's retirement from the Colorado Department of Transportation, they moved to Montrose, Colorado and enjoyed traveling together. They loved the mountains and could be found camping and fishing on many occasions. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing card games, especially Bridge. Elnora is survived by her daughters Leslie (Jim) Fleming of Alamosa and Janet (Paul) von Koehe of Prescott, AZ; as well as four grandchildren, two grand dogs, numerous great-grand and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Judith Dorman and her brother Elmer Hunter. Cremation was chosen and a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
