Obituary

Elizabeth Yvonne Arellano, lovingly known as Betty, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was born on November 28, 1962, in Alamosa, Colorado, and throughout her life she remained deeply connected to the community and family roots that shaped her.

Betty was born to her loving parents, Barolin Arellano and Elvinia Medina, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Arellano, and her granddaughter, Alexis Lakey. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried their love with her throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Epifanio "Nano" Quezada of Alamosa, whom she married on October 9, 2002. Betty and Nano shared many years together, building a life centered on family, love, and togetherness. She is also survived by her children, Jocelyn (Robert Gutierrez) Rodriguez of Alamosa, Rudy (Judy Marquez) Rodriguez of Alamosa, Chris Rodriguez of Alamosa, Jon (Ryan Piper) Marquez of Vancouver, WA, Brian (David) Duran of Colorado Springs, and Aylia (Rolando) Avalos of Alamosa, CO. Her grandchildren, Cody Lakey, Jayleen Rodriguez, Emiliano Rodriguez, Emiko Rodriguez, Anna Rodriguez, Ahlisia Valentine, Adrianna Rodriguez, Reina Rodriguez, Dezinah Duran, and Donavon Duran, brought her great joy and pride. She is also survived by her siblings, Dino Arellano, Jessie Medina, Evie Medina, Dominic Medina, and Alonzo Arellano, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold her memory dear.

Family was the center of Betty's world, and she loved spending time with those closest to her. She enjoyed cooking and sharing family meals, creating moments that brought everyone together and made lasting memories. She was often described as the glue that kept her family united, and her presence brought comfort, warmth, and strength to those around her. Betty also enjoyed playing BINGO and looked forward to staying at hotels when traveling, finding joy in simple pleasures and shared experiences.

Those who knew Betty will remember her as a loving, kind, and courageous woman. She faced life with grace and a generous spirit, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did. Her life was a reflection of devotion, resilience, and compassion, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who were blessed to know her.

A Visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday evening, April 9th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 205 State Avenue, in Alamosa. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
