Gallegos
December 18, 1937 – February 23, 2024
Our beloved Effie Mary Gallegos, 86, went to be with our Heavenly Father on February 23, in
the year of our Lord 2024.
Effie was born in Manassa, Colorado on December 18, 1937, the loving daughter to Augustine
LeFebre and Refugio DeHerrera LeFebre. She married Michael A. Gallegos at the St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Capulin, Colorado on August 22, 1955.
Effie was an extraordinary soul who opened her heart and home to everyone. She spent the
majority of her life caring for others. Her radiant light and warmth were given freely and affected
everyone around her. Throughout the years she had been a masterful seamstress. Effie made
many articles of clothing for herself, family and friends. She was a tireless steward of God and
maintained a sassy and humorous disposition in every situation. She enjoyed creating in her
crafts, cooking, and baking and her care and devotion for her family and animals was
unmatched. She will be remembered reverently by everyone for her unwavering love and
optimistic personality.
Effie is survived by her husband Michael Gallegos of La Jara, CO, and their children Miguel A.
Gallegos of La Jara, CO, Richard Gallegos (Kim) of La Jara, CO, Donna Saavedra (Stan) of
Albuquerque, N.M., Monica Gallegos, and Ezekiel Gallegos (Victoria) of La Jara, CO; her
grandchildren Ileaha Tardona, Nikki Gallegos, Rochelle Gallegos, Crystal Montez, Sunni
Gallegos, Danielle Murguia, Tommy Trujillo, Zjia Evans, Zach Manzanares, Zena Castro, Shelby
Gallegos, Anita Gallegos, Chanci Gallegos, and Ezekiel "Boy" Gallegos; her brother Chris
LeFebre (Sylvia), and numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Refugio DeHerrera and Augustine LeFebre, and her
siblings Melvin LeFebre, Marcella Munoz, Sal LeFebre, Leo LeFebre, and Augustine LeFebre.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29th, 2024, followed by a
Funeral Mass and Christian Burial Friday, March 1st, 2024 at 2 p.m. All taking place at the St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Capulin, CO. Committal services will follow the Funeral Mass in the Capulin
Cemetery.
