Dorothy Blanche Thorngren, 85, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado. She was born on July 27, 1940, in Osage, West Virginia, to the late James Edward Curtis Feathers and Jessie Dean Feathers
An accomplished esthetician, Dorothy ran her own successful business and had beloved repeat clients for over 40 years, blessing her clients with not just her professional expertise, but also the warmth of her presence. She was a pillar of hard work and determination, exemplified by the pride she took in moving to Denver, where she single-handedly bought a home in a good school district and raised her children in a nurturing environment filled with love and ample opportunities. Her dedication to providing a stable home and education for her sons was a testament to her unwavering resolve and love as a mother.
Dorothy leaves behind a family who cherished her deeply, including her sons James (Patty) Roy of Golden, Colorado, Robert Erin Christensen of Denton, Texas, Christopher (Charles Si) Christensen of Centennial, Colorado, and. Her role as a grandmother to Alexandra Roy and great-grandmother to Maverick Roy, added yet another layer of joy to her rich life. Dorothy's family was her pride and joy, and she raised them the same values of strength and independence that she embodied.
A devout Christian, Dorothy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a devoted member of the Church, she served with love, teaching primary and working in the library, infusing her religious community with the same warmth and generosity she bestowed upon her family.
Dorothy's story is one of resilience and unwavering spirit. She was a very strong independent woman who will be remembered by all who knew her as a beacon of light whose drive and compassionate heart uplifted everyone around her. Though she has departed from this earth, her legacy will continue to inspire and resonate in the lives of her family, friends, and those fortunate enough to have known this remarkable woman.
A celebration of life/memorial service in Denver will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025 at 2 pm at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 6061 S Havana St. in Englewood, CO 80111.
There will be a visitation on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 10 am to noon at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa followed by a graveside service in the Manassa Cemetery.
