Monte Vista resident Dorothy P. LePlatt, 95, died August 10, 2023 at the River Valley Rehabilitation and Health Care Nursing Home in Del Norte, Colorado.

Dorothy was born at home near Piedra, Colorado on August 22, 1927, the daughter of Elza and Lena (Cooper) Davis. She married the love of her life, Jerome "Bud" Quentin LePlatt on September 28 , 1946 in Bayfield, Colorado. They enjoyed more than 52 years together, until his death in 1997.

Dorothy assisted her husband Bud in running the Hotchkiss Sale Barn, and later owning and operating United farm Agency Real Estate office in Monte Vista. She loved to go to the mountains to camp and fish. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards with many friends and family. She and her husband Bud loved horses and kept many throughout the years.

Dorothy is survived by her children Jerome "Jerry" (Theresa) LePlatt, Jr. of Temple, TX, Terry (Tina) LePlatt of Monte Vista, CO, and Arlene Loman of Monte Vista, CO; her grandchildren Michelle (Keith) Bulzalski, Jennifer (Troy Eaton) LePlatt, Quentin, (Megan) Le Platt, Christopher (Amber) Crown, Clayton (Kathy) Loman, Michael (Leah) Loman; her great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Tyler, and Eli LePlatt, Craig Crown, Austin Velasquez, Rhys Velasquez, Kaleb Salazar, Crystal Loman, Kayla Loman, Brooke Loman, Tyler Loman, and Addyson Loman; her great-great-grandson Elias Salazar; her sister Rena Baumgardner of Sunnyvale, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Mabel Miller, Raymond Davis, and Helen Campbell.

Cremation was chosen and a Graveside of Ashes will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Pine River Cemetery, near Bayfield, CO. Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements.
