It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothy Bertha Espinoza, age 71, of Sanford CO. Dorothy passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on July 24th, after a long journey of battling cancer.
Throughout her journey she showed immense strength and grace. Dorothy dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family, even with an illness she did not let that stop her from spending time with her loved ones. Her love language was cooking, traveling, sewing & crocheting. Her family would describe her as a woman of many talents. Dorothy was preceded in death by her Father; Alonzo Leroy Espinoza Sr., Son; Jeremy Gracia, Madrina; Elouise Salazar, Padrino; Mosies Salazar, Sister-in-law; Monica Espinoza, Nephew; Carlos Parra, & Niece; Terese Duran. Dorothy was survived by her loving Mother; Olive Lucero Espinoza. & was a cherished sibling to her sister; Sally Salazar (Dale), Brother; Alonzo Jr. Espinoza (Maxine), Sister; Elaine Duran, Sister; Mayoanne Martinez, Brother; Leonard Espinoza (Monica)deceased, Brother; Robert Espinoza, Pete Marcotte, Larry Stoops, & Brother; Johnny Espinoza (Kim).
She was a loving and devoted mother to Son; Eppie Gracia (Mary), Daughter; Olive Angel Gonzales (Modesto), Daughter; Alexandra Salazar, Jeff Salazar, Terrell Smith, Son; Jeremy Gracia(deceased), & Son; Martin Gracia. Dorothy deeply loved being a grandmother and great grandmother to a total of 21 grandkids, and 4 great grandkids.
Dorothy was loved by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is now in the presence of our Heavenly father, and left us with many beautiful memories.
Services in her honor will be held on Thursday, July 30th, 2026 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara, CO. The rosary will be held at 9:30 AM and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. ALL are invited to join the family for a meal to follow after mass.
