Longtime San Luis Valley resident Donald Hammarstrom, 77, passed away at the Rock Canyon Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born on March 3, 1948 to Fritz and Erna Nielsen Hammarstrom in Denver, Colorado.

Don was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved history, and visiting the Denver Art Museum and the Colorado Railroad Historical Museum. He served on the Alamosa Library Board for many years.

Per Don's wishes cremation has been carried out and his final resting place will be Alamosa Cemetery.
