Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Don E Felmlee, 84 of Center Colorado, who was called home on August 30, 2026.

Don was born on December 12, 1941, to Theron Felmlee & Coralee Felmlee, Don lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, love, and devotion to those he held dear to his heart. One of Don's proudest accomplishments was owning and operating Center Tire for many years.

His business was more than a livelihood; it was a significant part of his life and a legacy he took great pride in building.

Don's greatest joy was flying his Cessna 172 Hawk XP airplane. He had a true passion for aviation and was fortunate enough to fly to many places throughout the years. His love of flying never faded, and he proudly maintained his pilot's license even at the age of 84. Outside of flying and his work, Don enjoyed many simple pleasures. He loved fishing, arrowhead hunting, motorcycle rides with his son, taking drives into the mountains, and watching the History channel. These hobbies reflected his curiosity, appreciation for the outdoors, and enjoyment of life's adventures.

Don was proceeded in death by his parents, Theron Felmlee and Coralee Felmlee, and his beloved wife Alice C Felmlee.

He is survived by his son Cody E. Felmlee who Don had become very proud of, and Cody's mother, Martha Peterson, along with two very special people in his life whom Don considered as the daughters he never had and part of his immediate family, Connie Valdez & Corina Hendriks. He is also survived by brothers, Theron Felmlee Jr. & Gale Felmlee, along with many other extended family members and friends.

Don leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and devotion-a life marked with dedication to his family, pride in his work, a passion for flying, and a love for adventure. The memories he created and the lives he touched will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Don will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Rest peacefully, Don. Your journey home is complete, but your legacy lives on.

A visitation in Don's honor will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. A graveside service will take place Tuesday, September 8th at 2 PM at San Luis Valley Cemetery.
