Obituary

Don Edward Cordes, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 85 in San Luis, Colorado. Born on October 31, 1939, in Pocahontas, Iowa, he was a son to the late Gilbert and Lenore Broderson Cordes.

Don lived a life marked by devotion to his loved ones, a passion for his work, and a spirit of service. On a beautiful summer day on July 13, 1992, in Loveland, Colorado, Don married Antoinette "Toni" Kowalchyk, who became his steadfast companion in every adventure. Their partnership was one of mutual love and endless support, and Toni survives him in their cherished family home in San Luis.

The proud father of Aaron (Dode) Cordes, Michelle (John) Malinowski, Nichole (Mike Pritchard) Cordes, and Ginny (Jeff Zuraski) Theisin, Don's legacy of kindness and determination lives on through his children. He will also be dearly missed by his sister, Phyllis Hood of Centennial, Colorado. As a revered family patriarch, Don cherished the joy of his grandchildren Shania, Jayla, and Mishayla, and the light of his life, great-grandson Richard Kennedy.

Don's professional life was as diverse and skilled as the man himself; he was the proud owner and operator of a Micro-Brewery in Loveland, Colorado. His days were also filled with the earthy smell of freshly turned soil as a farmer and the satisfaction of a job well done through his work as a carpenter.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Don was a beloved member of his community. As a skilled marksman and avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Del Monte Gun Club, where he won several trophies at Trap shoot meets. Don was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion in San Luis, pledging lifelong allegiance to his fellow servicemen and country. Further serving his community, Don was an active member of the Wild Horse Mesa Community Co-op, where his friendly face and ready-to-help attitude were always welcome.

Cremation was chosen and performed at the Rogers Crematory in Alamosa. Services will be held at a future date. To leave online condolences, tributes, and words of comfort for Don's family, please visit www.RogersFunerals.com
