OBITUARY
On Saturday, November 13, 2021, beloved Delores Ann Brown Ford, passed away in Alamosa, Colorado at the age of 77. Born in Alamosa on April 8, 1944, she was the second daughter and third child born into a family of six children. Affectionately called "Don" she happily grew up on the Brown Family farm near La Jara and often told many stories of her life there.
She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints at the new Stake Center in La Jara, Colorado on September 7th, 1952 and was an active and proud member until her death. She faithfully believed in food storage and always made sure members of her family had one.
Delores graduated from La Jara High in 1963. Upon graduation, she married Jerry Jones of Alamosa. They would be blessed with one daughter, Jodi Ann and three sons, Gerald, James and John. Delores was a "stay home" mom and between helping at their jewelry store "Jones Jewelers" in Alamosa and raising four children, kept very busy. She married her second husband Leonard Ford of Alamosa in 2005. They made their home near La Jara until her death.
Among the many things she enjoyed during her life was cooking, canning fruit, playing golf, being a talented oil artist and growing flowers and vegetables. Delores was the musical one in her family and taught herself how to play the piano and organ. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents with her family during visits and reunions, residents of skilled nursing facilities, attendees at the Alamosa Senior Center and members of the Elks Lodge. Delores knew how to not take life too seriously and enjoy every day. She loved and treasured every member of her large family.
She is survived by her husband Leonard Ford, son John Jones (Katrina), daughter Jodi, Grandchildren: Christina, Ashley, Sarah, Hannah, Matyson, Joshua, Alex, Robbie, Alicen, Ariel and Dominick. Great-Grandchildren: Alysiyah, JoJo, Jodeci, Maximus, Jayden, Phoenix and Ella. Nieces: Amanda, Carol, Susan, La Donna, Deanna, Lisa, Tracie, Tera, Tamara, Tanya and Tressy. Nephews: Vincent, Larry and TJ. Brother and sisters: Wendell Brown, Phyllis Hoyt and Sharon Engelhardt.
She was Preceded in death by her parents Irene and Harold Brown, husband Jerry Jones, sons Gerald and James Jones, son-in-law Mike Cyrus, granddaughter Jacqueline Jones, great-granddaughter Mia Cuba, brother James Russell Brown and sister Lynda Sue McCoy
Delores was a woman of goodness and uprightness. A kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and neighbor. She always had a warm hug ready for her loved ones. We will forever cherish her love and memories in our heart.
