Obituary

Deidre Fantazia Nyquist-Mascareñas, a beautiful soul who will always be cherished for her endless love and generosity, completed her earthly journey on February 13, 2025. Born in Alamosa, Colorado, on February 20, 1998, Deidre entered this world the same way she lived in it. How and when she wanted. Deidre's due date was Valentine's Day, but she does what she wants and was born 6 days later.

Deidre's happiest times in her way too brief life, were spent with her beloved family members. She is survived in love by her mother, Michele Mascareñas (Caylum Atencio) of Alamosa, sister Annitra Gallegos and brother Elijah Gallegos, both of Alamosa, daughter Analisa Archuleta of Monte Vista, grandparents Patricia and Michael Mascareñas of Monte Vista, and uncle Michael Mascareñas of Monte Vista. A host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members too numerous to name will carry her memory in their hearts. Deidre was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joshua Nyquist-Mascareñas and many other dear family members.

Deidre was an incredibly strong woman who was able to tackle any challenge or obstacle that came her way with determination and resourcefulness. If there was something she did not know how to do, she would learn about it and find a way to get it done. Deidre loved with her whole heart and always helped those around her, sometimes to a fault. She would far too often help people she knew would never help her.

Deidre loved music, animals, camping, four wheeling, fishing with her grandpo, collecting rocks, picking piñon, playing bingo with her grandma, and going to the casinos with her grandparents. She felt most at peace in nature. Her little dog, "Ocean," held a special place in her heart. Any time her grandparents would say they needed something or didn't want to go to the store, Deidre would say "I got you" and got them what they needed. No matter what they needed or when they needed it. Deidre would always go out of her way to get you something that reminded her of you. She would always help in any way she could or try to find people to help if she couldn't.

Above all else, Deidre's love for her daughter, husband, and family was deep, strong, and unwavering. She loved them with every fiber of her being and often expressed they were her sole purpose for living. Even though they fought and grew apart, Deidre always loved her brother and sister and said she'd hurt anyone if they hurt them.

We, the family of Deidre, are comforted by the belief that she continues to watch over us with the same love and passion she so freely gave in life. Analisa said her mommy and daddy are in heaven together. Deidre's family and those who knew her best will love and miss her forever. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has finally found peace in every way and that her memories of love will continue to live on in our hearts.

Deidre Fantazia Nyquist-Mascareñas was the best parts of all of us, and her light will continue to shine and warm the hearts of all who loved her. There will be a Memorial Mass to celebrate and remember Deidre's life on her birthday, Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa at 10 a.m. Deidre's eulogy will be read at 9:45 am.
