Obituary

David Patricio Atencio passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on June 23, 1958, in Salida, Colorado, and was a resident of San Acacio, Colorado.

David spent many years working as a supervisor for MCC Incorporated at a quarry in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, where he worked in limestone mining. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and leadership. Outside of work, he had a deep passion for music and especially loved playing his harmonica. He also cherished his 1978 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which brought him great joy throughout his life.

On August 14, 2024, David married the love of his life, Lori Miller, in Tacoma, Washington. Together they shared many happy memories and a love built on companionship and devotion.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Isadora Archuleta and Carlos "Charlie" Atencio; and by his brothers, Mike Atencio and Greg Atencio.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori Miller of San Acacio, Colorado; his children, Brandon Cheyney and Rachel Atencio; his stepdaughters, Lisa Brimhall and Brooke Judge; his grandchildren, Breeze Christian, Marcus Cheyney, Ciara Cheyney, Aidan Brimhall, Rylee Cheyney, Bentley Brimhall, Cashton Brimhall, and Patrick Vasser/Learn; his siblings, Veronica Atencio, Carlos Atencio, and Karla Jo (Brad) Reeves; along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

The Rosary will take place prior to the service at 1:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Parish in San Luis, Colorado. Burial will follow at the San Acacio Cemetery.

David's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
