Obituary

Longtime Alamosa resident Connie M. Roybal, 72, passed away on December 26, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born to Demetro and Josie (Muniz) Rodriguez in Bakersfield California. She met the love of her life Leroy "Abie" Roybal , they were married in Monte Vista in 1970. They were married for 56 wonderful years. They raised their family in Colorado, where they always enjoyed spending time together.

Connie was a wonderful woman with a huge heart full of love. She enjoyed making her family smile. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious mayonnaise cakes, in fact her grandchildren claim that she is the reason they all learned to bake cakes. She revered her time with her family, fishing, going to the mountains and watching movies. Connie loved to listen to oldies and dance. She also enjoyed singing, a trait she passed down to her daughter. Connie was a beautiful and classy woman and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Connie is survived by her husband Abie Roybal; her daughter Veronica Roybal of Alamosa; her sons Manuel (Carol Bland) Roybal of Alamosa, Dominic (Marsha) Roybal of Denver, Ernie Naranjo of Ft. Morgan, and Bernardo (Catherine) Roybal of Meeker; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents; step dad Obed Ruybal; grandpa Pilar Rodriguez, grandma Marina Gallegos; brothers Rufus Rodriguez and Irvin Rodriguez; granddaughters Ermidia Gonzales, and Shawnae Quintana; grandson Angel Roybal; sister Joann Medina; uncle Victor, aunt Francis Abeyta; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 10922 E US-160 in Alamosa on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 3 p.m.
