Christopher
Schockey
December 28, 1966 – December 14, 2025
Christopher Charles Schockey, known affectionately by friends and family as Chris, departed this world on December 14, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on a frosty morning in 1966 in the quaint town of Del Norte, Colorado, he was a son to the late Charles Larry Schockey and the beloved Peggy (Hart) Schockey. Chris's journey came full circle as he passed away in the same town that he was born.
Chris is lovingly remembered by his devoted mother, Peggy Schockey of Monte Vista; his cherished children, Victoria and Alexandra Schockey of Weatherford, TX; his dear sister, Denise Heersink of Alamosa; and the mother of his children, Dorothea Schockey, also of Weatherford, TX. His memory also burns brightly in the hearts of his many cousins, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of friends who were touched by his presence in their lives.
Professionally, Chris dedicated many years as a Program Manager in the field of Information Technology. A tech enthusiast, he marveled at the constant advancements in his field and enthusiastically embraced the digital revolution. His intelligence and adaptability made him a respected figure in his workplace, and his kind demeanor won him the affection of his colleagues.
Chris was a passionate Denver Broncos fan, often found shouting plays and cheering on his team from his comfortable armchair, much to the delight and occasionally amusement of those around him. He never missed a game, and his knowledge of the sport was encyclopedic, supporting his self-appointed titles of arm-chair coach and quarterback.
Beyond the football season, Chris's love for his family shone brightest. His daughters, Victoria and Alexandra, were the crowning achievements of his life, his pride and joy. Memories of family boating trips, especially those to Lake Powell, were treasured chapters in his life's book. Chris's sense of humor was legendary. He always had a joke up his sleeve, ready to share with friends and family, ensuring a good time was had by all.
Chris was the epitome of intelligence, kindness, and love—a man whose laughter filled a room and whose love knew no bounds. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, a blueprint for what it means to live a life full of passion, family, and joy.
Chris is preceded in death by his father Larry Schockey, his brother-in-law Verlyn "Skip" Heersink, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at the Rogers Family Mortuary Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Rogers Family Mortuary Chapel, 404 Morris Street, in Monte Vista, CO.
