Obituary

Brian Franklin Egolf, Sr., 77, of Creede, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2026, at his beloved Emerald Ranch. He was born August 3, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to William and HarryLou Egolf.

Brian graduated from Stanford University in 1970 and went on to a distinguished career in business and finance spanning more than five decades. In the early 1980s, he listed his first company on the New York Stock Exchange alongside his father, William. Over the years he pursued ventures across the United States, Southeast Asia, and South America, working in energy, healthcare, mining, and most recently biotechnology, where he was supporting a company developing a cutting-edge cancer therapy.

Brian's reach extended well beyond his business interests. His network of friends and colleagues spanned the globe — from Vietnam to Bogotá, Oklahoma City to London to Dubai, and many places in between. He was rarely anywhere without a close friend or partner nearby. Since his passing, the family has been heartened by calls and messages from around the world recounting how Brian helped someone at a critical moment, offered timely advice, or provided the insight that made the difference.

He was an incredibly generous, brilliant, dedicated, and optimistic man who spent time every day helping others achieve their dreams and advance their careers. He would do nearly anything for a friend and was a tireless champion for the ideas and causes he believed in. Brian was an avid wilderness runner, hiker, horseman, backcountry skier, and snowshoer.

Above all, Brian loved his family. He was devoted to his wife Rosemary like few husbands are, and he was proud beyond measure of his children and grandchildren. His friends grew accustomed to the steady stream of "blast emails" celebrating the family's accomplishments — Sidney crushing an honors science class, Eileen's latest engineering career accomplishments, a weightlifting competition Cameron had won, a verdict Adrian had helped secure for her clients, Eleanor's first dance recital, a barrel racing win for Rosemary. Everything Brian did was for his family; he never thought of himself first.

Brian is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary Kupecz Egolf; his son Brian Egolf, Jr. (wife Kelly Shannon Egolf); his daughter Adrian Egolf (husband Luke Sorge); his daughter Eileen (Egolf) Fromm (husband Nolan Fromm); and his granddaughters Cameron Egolf, Sidney Egolf, and Eleanor Egolf-Sorge.

Services will be announced.

In lieu of formal tribute, the family asks that you say a prayer for Brian and play "Pink Cadillac" on your streaming service of choice in his memory.
