Billy L.
Gurule
March 9, 1952 – November 14, 2024
Billy L. Gurule, 72, passed away on November 14, 2024, at the Rock Canon Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center in Pueblo CO. Born on March 9, 1952, to John and Cordelia Gurule in Mancos, Colorado.
After graduating from Sangre De Cristo High School, Billy demonstrated his love for his country by serving in the United States Marine Corps. His dedication to his craft was evident in his career as a heavy equipment operator. Billy also found joy in his work as a lumberjack in Pagosa Springs, where he took pride in hauling wood for a local company.
Billy was a man of simple pleasures; he was happiest in the comfort of his home or while embracing the tranquility of the mountains. An avid fisherman, he found solace by the water's edge, casting a line and waiting patiently for the catch of the day.
Predeceased by his loving parents, John and Cordelia (Ulibarri) Gurule, his brother Ernie Gurule, and his nephew Matthew Marquez, Billy's memory will be honored and kept alive by his son, Jason Gurule of California; his sister, Brigida (Randy) Archuleta of New Mexico; nephews, Wesley (Crystal) Marquez of Sanford, CO, and Casey (Alina) Marquez of Manassa, CO; his niece, Kristina (Brian) Taffin of Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren.
A true homebody with a deep-rooted appreciation for nature, Billy's spirit will forever roam the trails and linger in the quiet moments he so loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements. To leave online condolences, tributes and words of comfort for Billy's family please visit www.RogersFunerals.com.
