Obituary

Betty L. Ellsworth passed away on January 9, 2025. She was born on May 17, 1926 in South Fork, Colorado to Fred and Cora Landen who homesteaded many acres in South Fork.

Betty was one of the first female, high school bus drivers for Del Norte, where she went to school. They let high school kids drive the busses back them. She graduated from Del Norte High School in 1944.

She met William "Bill" F. Ellsworth soon after and they were married March 4, 1945. They moved to Denver where Bill went to school. She worked at the 5 and 10 cent store. They moved back to Del Norte and then to Monte Vista where they lived until death.

Bill preceded her in death in January 1973. Her son James Armon Ellsworth preceded her in death in January 2023. Surviving are April (Dan) Myers, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sister Wanda Kernen, brother John Landen, and sister-in-law Karen Ellsworth.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista. Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista is in care of arrangements.
