Obituary

Audrea Maria Rendon, a lifelong resident of La Jara, Colorado, and a dedicated servant to her community, passed away in May 2026. Born on December 12, 1972, to Jose "Frank" Rendon and Rosalie Jackson, Audrea's life was defined by her deep roots in the San Luis Valley and her unwavering commitment to those around her. She was a woman of immense talent and deep faith, serving as a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamosa. Her musical gifts were a cornerstone of her identity; she was a skilled guitarist and pianist, as well as the proud founder and member of a local Country Quartet.

Beyond her music, Audrea dedicated her professional life to the well-being of others, serving as a nurse in Colorado for many years. Her civic-minded nature led her to serve as a Trustee for the Town of La Jara, and her love for her environment and neighbors inspired her to start the La Jara Community Garden.

Audrea was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalie Jackson; her stepmother, Phyllis Rendon; and her sister, Joyce Holland.

She is survived by her father, Jose "Frank" Rendon, and her sister, Mary Holland Zimmerman and her love Tom Smith. Her memory is also cherished by her stepsister, Anne Holmstrom and her husband John, and her stepbrother, Brad Weissenfels and his wife Darla. She leaves behind her very close friends, Rita Gonzalez and Lloyd Nicodemus, along with several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her presence.

A memorial service to honor Audrea's life and legacy will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamosa. Reverend Jason Cody will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church to support the faith community that meant so much to her.
