Obituary

Anita Ruth Duncan, a cherished soul whose life was marked by kindness, music, and devotion, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado at the San Luis Care Center. Born on August 18, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to William Edgar Hoff and Fannie Sue House Hoff, Anita's early years were steeped in the warm embrace of a loving family who instilled in her the values she would carry throughout her life.

Anita embarked on a journey of lifelong learning and service that led to her earning a Master's degree in Christian Education. It was this deep faith that guided her and gave her strength, especially when she met the love of her life, Robert Gayle Duncan. The two were united in marriage in 1973 in Monte Vista. They built a life in Alamosa filled with love and laughter. Anita's heart was touched by profound joy and sorrow as she said goodbye to Robert, who preceded her in death in 1985, and mourned the loss of her beloved son William "Billy" Duncan, her sister Pam Holland, and her sister-in-law Sharon Hoff, at different times in her life.

Her resilience and generosity knew no bounds as she poured her spirit into her work as a Business Office Manager at the San Luis Care Center, where for over 15 years, she was a beacon of support and care to both staff and residents alike.

Music filled Anita's soul, ever-present in her life as she skillfully played piano, sang with grace, and touched many with her musical talents. Her interests were a reflection of her gentle nature, as she enjoyed sewing and had a natural gift for creating beauty in all her works. A friend to many, Anita's calm spirit and willingness to help others were the hallmarks of a life well-lived.

Anita's memory will be lovingly cherished by her daughter, Sarah Duncan--Pearson and her spouse, Michael Pearson; her granddaughter, Tori, and her spouse, Michael Espinosa; and her devoted siblings, Mike Hoff, Deb (Terry) Weikum, Dan Hoff, and Stephen (Joellen) Hoff. Her brother-in-law, Wallace Holland, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, will carry the light of Anita's love for generations to come.

A woman of faith, Anita's Christian values were woven into every interaction and relationship, leaving a legacy of gentleness, love, and kindness. She will be deeply missed but remembered with profound affection and gratitude by all who were privileged to know her.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
