Longtime Alamosa resident Alma L. Clayton, 85, died June 26, 2023 at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.
Alma was born in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on February 17, 1938, the daughter of Herbert and Laura Kingsley. She married the love of her life, Billy Clayton, on September 7th in 1957. They enjoyed 44 years together.
Alma worked alongside her husband Billy, managing the family business, Motor Parts, for many years. She was affectionately known as Grace around the store. She was a Rainbow Girl in Pagosa Springs, active in the Alamosa Presbyterian Church, a member of PEO and was active with her husband in the Jaycees. She also enjoyed needlework and crafts of all kinds. Alma moved to Reno in March of 2018 to be closer to Ron and Susan.
She is survived by her son Ron (Susan) Clayton of Reno, Nevada, her grandchildren Bethany (Daniel) Gleason of Seattle, WA, William Clayton of Reno, NV, Meredith Clayton of Seattle, WA, Christen (Luke) Smith of Pueblo, CO, Casey (Michelle) Clayton of Arequipa, Peru, and Scott (Ashley) Clayton of Alamosa, CO; her great-grandchilden Katherine, Julianne, and Matthew Gleason of Seattle, WA, Elise and Brinley Clayton of Arequipa, Peru, Rose Clayton of Alamosa, as well as Kristen and Luke's five children; and a host of extended family and friends.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy, and her son Donny Clayton.
A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Alamosa Cemetery.
