Alfonso "Bernal" Casias, 86, of Romeo, Colorado passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday April 29,2023. Bernal was born in Ortiz, CO on July 8, 1936 to Ruperto and Adelina Casias.
He married his wife of 67 years, Martha (Jiron), on February 8, 1956, whom together they had and raised 11 children- Nemecino, Betty Jean, Johnny, Theresa, Paul, Michael, Robert, Patrick, Steve, Amy, and Addie. 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren
Bernal enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He Loved going to Mountains, camping, fishing, horseback riding, Roping and BBQ's. He was a hard worker since he was a young boy and remainder of his life as a Truck Driver. He was always willing to help anyone anyway that he could.
He is survived by his wife Martha Casias, Romeo, CO; Sons; Paul Casias Sr., Romeo, CO, Michael Casias (Sarah), Florida; Patrick Casias, Romeo, CO, Steve Casias, Denver, CO, daughters; Betty Jean Casias, Capulin, CO, Amy Casias, Romeo, CO, Addie Casias, Sanford, CO. Sister Angie Salazar, Denver, CO; sister-in-law Loretta (Lawrence) Jaramillo. And several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ruperto and Adelina Casias, brothers; Rupert (Estephanita) Casias, Nemecino (Olivama) Casias, sisters; Maria Inez Allarid, Lela Madrid, Priscilla (Lorenzo) Maez. Parents in-law Filandro and Rosalina Jiron, brother and sister–in-law Efrim (Molly) Jiron, Tim Jiron, Lottie Jiron, Ida (Lafayette) Manzanares, his children; Nemecino Casias, Johnny Lee Casias, Robert Casias, and Theresa Casias and Great-Grandson Coby Lee Casias.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7pm Sunday, May 7, 2023 followed by a Funeral Mass Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10 am, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, CO. Interment will follow services in the La Florida Cemetery near Antonito.
