Obituary for Wilma Faye Faver

Long time Alamosa resident, Wilma Faye Faver, 87, left her earthly home to spend eternity in heaven on May 28, 2022. She passed peacefully, but unexpectantly, of natural causes.

Wilma was known as a wonderful cook and baker. She served many meals in their home and also took food to countless dinners, events, and bazaars. In her later years she would say, “I can still cook with the best of them, it just takes me longer”. She was also an outstanding seamstress and loved all kinds of crafts. She and Sid spent their retirement years selling their handmade creations at craft show near and far.

They loved to travel in their motorhome, never by airplane or ship. They visited 49 states, because they “haven’t built a bridge to Hawaii”, Canada and Mexico. They traveled with their young family in a station wagon pulling a tent top pop up camper.

Wilma and Sid were very dedicated to their church and their beliefs. Wilma’s parents were among the founders of the First Christian Church in Alamosa.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Faver, her parents, Clifton and Iva Buck, and many other extended family members. She is survived by her three children Cindy (Carl) Hill of Del Norte, Cliff (Suzanne) Faver of Phoenix and Del Norte and Rhonda (Vincent) McKinney of Del Norte. She is also survived by her grandchildren Thad (Stephanie) Hill, Ross (Ashley) Faver, Nikole (Anthony) Kucera, Sydney McKinney, and Chelsea Marchetti; great grandchildren Lorelei, Brooke, Julie, George, Kody, Paxton, and Rosalie. Also surviving are her two sister in laws, Shirley Faver and Patsy Enax. Wilma is also survived by numerous others that she and Sid claimed as their “kids”, plus her cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation was selected. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 3pm at the First Christian Church in Alamosa, on the corner of State Avenue and First Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Alamosa in care of Rogers Family Mortuary.
