Obituary for William Raymond Alsbaugh

Longtime Alamosa resident William “Bill” Raymond Alsbaugh, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Alamosa under hospice care July 20, 2014.
Bill was born to Ralph Alsbaugh and Gladys Reed Alsbaugh in Alamosa on December 3, 1931.
Bill served in the United States Navy as an X-Ray Technician. Following his military service, he owned and operated Alsbaugh Leather Goods for 35 years and was a Rancher. He took great pride in breeding and raising his Hereford Bulls. In his younger years Bill enjoyed traveling about the country with his leather goods business.
Bill was a very kind Christian man and would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1297 in Alamosa and supported the VFW and Legion.
Bill is survived by his wife Bonnie Alsbaugh of Alamosa; their children Don Alsbaugh of Colorado Springs, Ron (Shelly) Alsbaugh of Belen, NM, Troy (Melissa) Geringer of Alamosa, Lee (Deb) Geringer of Portland, Tennessee and Eddie (Traci) Geringer of Monte Vista; his grandchildren Cheyenna, Dusty, Savanna, Laci, Miranda and Austin Valimont; his sisters Beverly (Jim) Jones of Hooper, CO and Barbara Money of Manitou Springs; as well as his nieces and nephews Kelly West, Clay Zinn, Troy Zinn, Steve Money and Dave Money.
His parents and his first wife Anne Novak preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Inurnment of ashes will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery with military honors. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org or by mail at P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. All are invited to a Potluck dinner at the Alamosa Elks Lodge following the graveside services.
