Obituary for Warren Douglas Carruth
Warren Douglas Carruth was born February 27, 1945, in Houston, Texas. While WWII was still ongoing, he was about 8 months old before his father ever saw him. He was born to Warren Carruth and Nena Beth Lindsay Carruth. After his parents moved to the Texas Panhandle area, Doug attended schools in Plainview, Texas, graduating from Plainview High School in 1963. He had a gift for mechanical work and was well trained by his father in working on many different types of vehicles.
He married Carol Futrell, February 25, 1967, in Hart, Texas. They were married 55 years, 11 months. Beginning married life in Pueblo, Colorado, after 6 years they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, then to Riverton, Wyoming, where they lived for 20 years, and lastly, moving to Alamosa, Colorado in 1994. On January 25, 2023 Doug passed, having suffered much from health issues.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Warren Douglas Carruth, Jr. , his sister, Dyanne Reagan, a brother, Billy Carruth. He is survived by his wife, Carol, Jeffrey (Shannon) Carruth of Riverton, Wyoming, and 6 grandchildren, Adrianna Carruth of Alamosa, Ian Carruth, Sean Carruth, Liam Carruth, Zoe Carruth, Keagan Carruth, all of Riverton, Wyoming. His sister, Beverly (Allan) Henderson of San Angelo, Texas, and brother, Floyd (Carolyn) Carruth of Alamosa, also survive and several cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Douglas was a “people person” who really liked working with people wherever he met them. He was able to help many people, both family and friends through his life. He enjoyed traveling. Due to his hard work in sales, he & Carol enjoyed a Rhine River Cruise and several Caribbean vacations. He liked hunting, and made 5 trips to South America on bird hunting trips, and he traveled to Alaska, South Africa, and Namibia hunting for game. He remained in touch with several people he met on those adventures.
At his direction, Douglas was cremated. Services will take place at a later date. Persons wishing to make memorial gifts may send them to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Texas, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, College Heights Baptist Church in Alamosa, or a charity of their choice.
