Obituary for Wally E. Stacy
Wally Edward Stacy was born October 10, 1939, in Colby, KS to Pauline and Carmi Stacy. On March 17, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, Wally was called home to his final resting place. Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, working on motors, fixing anything that needed repaired, four-wheeling, and long relaxing drives in his refurbished 1972 Land Cruiser. His bumper sticker said, “I’m retired, go around me.” His knowledge and skill for building, designing, and producing a quality final product was well above average. He still had plans for many upcoming projects.
He loved to share his knowledge and experiences with his children and grandchildren. His family and friends know Wally to possess qualities that are rare. He was an exceptional person in many ways, who was patient and kind, sacrificing much without hesitation or complaint. These are the things we will miss the most.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Carmi Stacy, his wife, Elsie (Elling) Stacy, and his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jim Shutts.
Wally’s family was very important to him and he loved them dearly. Wally is survived by his loving wife Melanie Stacy; two daughters: Brenda (Eddie) Atencio, Annette (Keith) Cross; and two sons: Darrin (Alberta) Stacy, Vernon (Rosemary) Stacy; six grandchildren: Shannon Stacy, Adam (Adrienne) Atencio, Bradley (Kasey) Martinez, Cameron Stacy, Nick Stacy and Brennon Stacy; and 13 great grandchildren: Dawson Stacy, ChesneeRose Stacy-Pallazola, Hailee Stacy-Pallazola, Arielle Atencio, Tytus Atencio, Kahlena Atencio, Cohen Martinez, Liam Martinez, Ayden Stacy, Michelle Montoya, Rowan Stacy, Brentley Stacy, and Chance Stacy. He’s also survived by 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and much extended family through marriage and friendship.
A celebration of life will be hosted Thursday evening, March 21st, at High Valley Community Center, Del Norte, CO, from 6pm to 8pm. A private family graveside service with full military honors will be held. Wally was a very proud veteran.
