VIRGINIA SHIRLEY HENSON MALOUFF, passed into eternity August 16, 2017 in the quiet of her Alamosa home with her husband Ferris of 70 years next to her. She had battled an extended illness but is now at peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Memorial services will be held at the Alamosa Christian Church, 410 McQuerry St. 10:30 am Thursday the 24th. Officiants will be Pastor Tony Werner and Pastor Karl Malouff, lunch following for family and friends.

She gave the gift of welcome and acceptance to all, always kind and generous. She was fulfilled in motherhood and will be missed greatly by here four living children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. “Mom made us all feel like we were here favorite,” commented one son. She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Karl (spouse Deborah of Austin Texas, longtime residents of Pasadena Ca., adult children Ryan (spouse Dana, children Emma and Jack) and Melissa of Austin Texas; Curtis (spouse Kay of Alamosa, children Ferris of Alamosa and deceased son Travis formerly of Denver Co.); Gregory (spouse Carolyn of Yuma Az. children Dustin (spouse Serena, children Vera and expecting of Phoenix AZ) Miranda of New York, and Chelsea in school in New York; Andrea Rydgren of Alamosa and child Alamosa High School student, Rory.

Virginia born March 25 1929 in Alamosa to Curtis and Francis (Schoenberger) Henson, was one of 7 siblings now survived by Theresa Olme Colorado Springs, Dorothy Cowan Riverside CA, Don Henson Alamosa, Yvonne Achatz Alamosa, and Patty Bates of Boise ID., deceased brother Harold and sister Genevieve formerly of California.

Virginia spent some early school years on a farm in El Rito NM, but returned to Alamosa where worked as a telephone operator in the 40’s until at a dance she met Ferris then cooking at the family café the R & M on Main St. who said she was so beautiful and kind that he knew she was the one he had to pursue quickly because there was lots of suitors. Ferris now 100 yrs. old commented that neither parents were happy with the match but later relented not knowing it would last 70 yrs.

“I think the most fun mom had, commented one son, were the weekends of constant laughter when she and her sisters from California and Alamosa would go on a yearly trip to Las Vegas to see shows and just be away together.” She was so very close to her sisters, bonds that were never broken. Thank you sister Yvonne for the continual loving visits always making her laugh.
“Mom there is a huge whole in our hearts, and you will always be missed but we are so glad you are no longer struggling in a sick body and have gone to meet the one you have trusted in so long!”

The family gives special thanks to Elizabeth Medina who gave of herself with special home care to Virginia and Ferris over the past 2 years.
