Obituary for Vincent J. Tripi Dr.

Alamosa resident, Dr. Vincent J Tripi, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015, surrounded by his sons and daughters. Born on April 19th, 1926, in South Euclid, OH, he was a dedicated son and brother who served in the Army and went on to graduate from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1957. He spent more than 50 years as a practicing General Surgeon in Ohio and Florida before moving to Alamosa, CO to spend more time with his children and grandchildren in September of 2014. In his short time in the Valley, he touched many with his quirky, stubborn, loving personality as a resident of The Bridge.
He is survived by his daughters, Bridget Coyman of New Port Richey, FL, Gina Stephens and Carissa Tripi of Alamosa, and his sons, Vincent Tripi of Honolulu, HI, Dante Tripi of Alamosa and Angelo Tripi of Denver, as well as 9 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses as well as the staff at The Bridge that helped to make him feel at home in the Valley.
Services will be held in Cleveland, OH on January 31st where he will join the family that has preceded him in death at Lakeview Cemetery. Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa will be accepting any condolences and donations can be made to the San Luis Valley Health Foundation, where a memorial fund in Dr. Vincent Tripi’s name has been set up to support furthering the education of local healthcare workers.
