Obituary for Teresa Jaramillo

Alamosa resident Teresa Jaramillo, 89, passed away May 6, 2023 surrounded by family in Alamosa, Colorado.

Teresa’s life began in Lobatos, Colorado on May 23, 1933, born to David Jaramillo and Petrolina Lopez Jaramillo.

Teresa held several careers throughout her life including, Montgomery Ward’s as a store clerk, for Walter Lowe at Lowe Funeral Home, and most recently for the USDA as an administrative assistant. She had a sharp mind with a great memory and was the person to call when trying to learn family history, details related to her family, or special dates. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa and served as a eucharistic minister both at the church and for the homebound. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, and the Sacred Heart League. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower gardening, reading, crocheting and rosary making.

Teresa is survived by her siblings Jose Leroy (Mary Ann) Jaramillo of Pueblo, CO; and David Jaramillo of Elko, NV; Nancy (Lowe) Wagoner, whom she was a nanny for and regarded as a daughter; as well as special nephew Jesse Jaramillo along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents David and Petrolina; her siblings Melaquias Jaramillo, Abraham Jaramillo, Jesse Jaramillo, Fidelia Salazar, Donald Jaramillo, Mary Jaramillo, and Everlee Jaramillo; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family.

A Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 10:30a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00a.m., May 16 , 2023 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
