Obituary for Shirley Jeane Marx

Homelake resident Shirley Jeane Marx, 87, died May 30, 2022 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake.

Shirley was welcomed into this world on May 7, 1935 in Zalma, Missouri, the proud daughter to Carl Rowe and Maria (Staats) Rowe. She married her first husband Charles McKee and they enjoyed over 50 years together until his death (2006). She then found love at the age of 80 and married Herbert Marx. They were united in marriage on February 14, 2017 and held their formal ceremony on July 15, 2017.

Shirley served as a nurse and homemaker for several years. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Herb. Shirley is remembered for her twinkle in her eye and her ever present smile. She was told she had a striking resemblance to Queen Elizabeth in appearance. Everyone who met Shirley felt her love and friendship!

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Herbert Marx of Homelake; her children Millard (Rhonda) McKee, Cindy (Keith) Newby, and Mary Clarissa (Jim) Meyer; her siblings O’Dean Grindstatt and Lily Smith; her daughter-in-law Candace McKee; her step-children Esther (Antonio) Massimini, Michael (Candy) Marx, Gary (Marita) Marx, Sandie (Alan) Wehe, Ron (Dea) Marx, Patricia (Bill) McNamara, and Edward (Simran) Marx; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren nieces, nephews and extended family. Shirley was deeply loved.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Charles, her children Kristy Elliott, Terissa McClelland and Chuck McKee, her sister Mary Gaither and her brother Webster Lee Rowe.

Cremation was chosen with interment in Cape Girardeau, MO. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
