Obituary for Roy Dwane Pruett

The family of Roy Dwane Pruett sadly announces his passing on August 24, 2014 at the age of 77, following a long battle with a serious illness. He was a lifelong resident of the San Luis Valley and lived in South Fork, Colorado for the past 20 years. He was born in Center, Colorado on February 8, 1937 to Roy Elmo Pruett and Nina Marie (Harney) Pruett. He graduated from Alamosa High School, class of 1955 and served 6 years in the United States Air Force. After working briefly for Rio Grande Motorway, he began his career with Public Service Company of Colorado in 1964 as a lineman, working his way to electrical engineering. He retired in 1994. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 45 years, Barbara L. (Pile) Pruett and his children, Michael R. (Denise) Pruett and Angela R. (Bryan) Kyle. He is also survived by his brothers Dale H. and Michael L. (Dana) Pruett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Jimmie M. Butler, Mary Kathleen Hogelin and Shirley Ann Pruett, his brother David E. Pruett and granddaughter Candace Aldrich. He was the proud grandfather of Joseph Aldrich, Aaron Aldrich, Jade and Taj Pruett as well as great-grandsons Aidan and Malachi Aldrich.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the South Fork, 0116 Landon Drive, South Fork, Colorado on September 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Del Valle, 514 Main Street, Alamosa, Colorado 81101
