Obituary for Roy Orlando Carpenter

Former Del Norte and Denver resident Roy Orlando Carpenter, 50, passed away April 10, 2015 at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.
Roy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 24, 1965 to Edgar Lee and Eileen Perkins Carpenter.
He served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was honorably discharged following his service. He was awarded various medals including a National Defense Service Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star.
Roy was very outgoing and a people person. He loved helping others and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Roy was an artist and liked to draw. In his spare time he liked to watch the television program Star Trek and was a “Trekkie”.
He is survived by his mother Eileen Carpenter of Del Norte; his brother and sisters: Edgar L. Carpenter, Jr. of Bird City, KS, Veronica E. Dominguez of Del Norte, CO, Lewis W. Carpenter of Texas, Kathleen J. David of Del Norte and Emy M. Carpenter of Del Norte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and loving friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his father Edgar, Sr. and his brother Richard Carpenter.
A Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Rogers Family Mortuary, located at 404 Morris Street in Monte Vista. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, April 17th at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18th at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte. Interment will follow services in the Del Norte Cemetery with military honors.
