Obituary for Rosalia Federico Alonzo

San Luis resident Rosalia “Rose” Federico Molina-Alonzo, 71, died July 25, 2022, at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, with her husband Manuel by her side.

Rose’s life began in Ajo, Arizona on June 10, 1951, the daughter to Esteban Molina and Anastacia (Federico) Molina. She married the love of her life, Manuel Alonzo, Jr. on January 13, 1969, and they enjoyed more than 53 years together. What they built and shared with one another over those 53 years is truly amazing and unique. They had low times, but they had many more precious times that they enjoyed together. As one of their family members stated, “They did have a storybook love”.

Rose was a full-time ordained minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved sharing the good news of the bible with people. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many careers and all of them involved her love of helping others. She was known for her attitude and the sound of her laugh. You never had to ask where she was, as she was always heard before seen. She spoke with a voice that was meant to be heard, never misunderstood and hard to ignore. Yet, she also knew how to display a loving kindness through her tone and gestures. She was a woman of her word and if she told you she was going to do something, she was.

She was a seamstress, and enjoyed making clothing, beadwork, and was a collector of many things. Another lifelong love Rose enjoyed was cooking and could always be counted on to bring food to anyone. Those that tasted her cooking could taste the love and care she put into every dish she made.

Rose has left an indelible mark upon any person she met. She was quick with a smile, and kind, though loud word. She was not a world traveler but the few places she did travel, she made lifelong friends. As a close friend once described Manuel and her “They would give you the shirts off their back and iron them first”.
As this chapter of their earthly love story ends, Manuel looks forward to the day he is reunited with his high school sweetheart in Paradise.

She is survived by her husband Manuel Alonzo Jr. of San Luis; her children Manuel (Juanita) Alonzo III, of Pueblo, CO and their children Alyssa, Jon, Fernando-Jofe; Trini Anastacia (Raymond) Pacheco of Pueblo, CO and their son Raymond Alonzo, Estevan-Jose Martinez (Sarah) Alonzo of Alamosa and their children Roman Alexander, Amelia Renee, Emma Rae, and Ivy Mae; her siblings George (Karen) Molina, Christina Molina, Betty Molina, Steve (Francisca) Molina, Robert (Terri) Molina, and Irene (Raymond) Arellano; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter Aiyanna Rose Alonzo.
