Long time Alamosa resident Rosa Davis, 83, passed away on June 15, 2022 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She was born on June 26, 1938, in Bamberg Germany to Luitpold Schoepplein and Anna Reuss Schoepplein. She married Vernon Davis on August 30, 1958, in Bamberg, Germany.
Rosa loved the military life, moving from state to state and country to country. While raising her 5 children she learned English and earned her US Citizenship in Sept. of 1960, just days before giving birth to her third child, Richard. Rosa was a very active member of the Alamosa American Legion and VFW, and worked closely beside Vern to do anything they could to help veterans in the San Luis Valley.
She held several jobs over the years working at both the hospital and the high school. Her love for dogs was well known and she had at least one dog to pamper at all times. Once the casinos opened in New Mexico, her and Vern could be seen regularly making the drive “down South” so that she could enjoy her luck at the slots.
She is survived by her daughters, Maryann Martinez, Debra Guymon and Janet Andasola, her sons, Edward Davis and Richard Davis as well as 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon and her two sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Alamosa Cemetery. Please consider a donation to Hospice in lieu of flowers. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
