Richard Weaver of Moffat passed away June 10, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the Rio Grande Inn in La Jara, Colorado. Richard was born January 16, 1933 in Moffat, Colorado to Viola Keane Weaver and Samuel J Weaver, the third of 4 children. Richard grew up on the ranch in Moffat and Graduated from Moffat High School in 1951. After high school, Richard joined the Army and served during the Korean War.
Upon returning to the San Luis Valley, he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Jack and they were later married on November 29, 1958 at the home of Carol’s parents, Robert and Ruby Jack, in Alamosa. Carol and Richard made their home in Moffat where they raised their 5 children, Carolyn, Kenneth, Samuel, Sidney and Rebecca.

Richard loved his hometown and proudly served on the Moffat School Board for 30+ years. He owned and operated R Weaver & Sons Fencing with his three sons. Richard and Carol were proud supporters of all Moffat School athletics.

Richard loved watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He never missed a game and was their biggest fans. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Carol and they enjoyed many adventures together. Richard loved watching the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies and Denver Nuggets and enjoyed attending their games with his family.

Richard is survived by his children, Carolyn and David Faucette of Sanford, CO; Kenny Weaver of Moffat, CO; Sid Weaver of Moffat, CO; Sammy Weaver of Moffat, CO; Becky and Kevin Neese of Bancroft, ID; Grandchildren Jeremy and Melissa Faucette of Sanford and their children JD, Makynlee, Justin and Jaxen; Brittany and Nic Gilleland of Manassa and their children Durant, Shandon, Taysha and Hayslie; Brandi and Tyson Gilleland of Sanford and their children Emeri, Brayton, Lydia, Gavin and Trevin; Brooke and Brady Barney of Sanford and their children Kya, Braxton and Kambria; Morgan and Jake Evans of Bancroft, ID and their son Luke; Kendra and Austin Vance of McCammon, ID and their daughter Caroline; Jacob Neese of McCammon, ID; Kimberley Neese of Bancroft, ID and her daughter Kyrie. He is also survived by his sister Mabel Hansen of Las Animas, CO and brother-in-law Bob and Beverley Jack of Alamosa, CO as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Carol, his daughter Carla, his parents Samuel and Viola, brothers Jack Weaver and Ed Weaver and daughter-in-law Laura Weaver.
