Obituary for Raymond "Ray" Scott Medina

Longtime Alamosa resident Raymond “Ray” Scott Medina, 63, died May 22, 2023 at his home in Alamosa, surrounded by his family and under hospice care.

Ray was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on December 17, 1959, the son to Raymond Salvador Medina and June L. Douglas Medina. He married the love of his life, Yolanda Sanchez in Alamosa, Colorado on August 30, 2002 and they enjoyed more than 20 years together.

Ray worked for more than 30 years for the Colorado Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He loved fixing things. He also enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle around the countryside with his wife.

Ray loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, he liked to play video games with the kids and watch television with his family. Some of his favorite television programs were mechanic and auto restoration shows.

He is survived by his wife Yolanda Medina of Alamosa; his children Amanda Medina of Pueblo, CO, Kendra Medina of Pueblo, CO, his grandchildren who he adopted Jasiah Gutierrez and Rayleigh Gutierrez, both of Alamosa; his mother June Medina of Alamosa; his siblings Mark Medina, LaVaughan Medina, and Andrew (Gloria) Medina, all of Alamosa; his grandchildren Ozzy Hernandez and Winter Hernandez, both of New Mexico, Faithful Medina, Perry Armstrong, and Heavenleigh Duran; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Ray is preceded in death by his brother Matthew Medina, his father Raymond Medina, his step-daughter Victoria Santisteven, and his nephew Joseph Manzanares.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
