Obituary for Priscilla Maria Garcia
Monte Vista resident Priscilla Maria (Rivera) Garcia, 87, died May 23, 2021 at her home in Monte Vista. She was born on May 4, 1934 in Dixon, New Mexico to Joe E. Rivera and Dolores (Brito) Rivera. She married Jose Antonio “Tony” Garcia, the love of her life on May 19, 1952 and they enjoyed 65 years together. To this union four children were born.
Priscilla belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista and was a former member of St. Theresa Circle, St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Del Norte Post. She loved to play BINGO and enjoyed gambling. She also loved baking wedding and birthday cakes, Biscochito’s for her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Gerald Garcia, Jerry Garcia; grandchildren Linda Garcia, Gerald A. Garcia, Jr., Tiffany Garcia, Mathew Garcia, and Damian (Valerie) Gallegos, her great-grandchildren Jeremiah Garcia, Jaden Garcia, Skye Garcia, Alyssa Garcia, Gerald Garcia, great-great-grandson Joziah Garcia and best friend Judy Montoya and family; her daughter-in-law Lori Garcia; sisters-in-law Naomi Alire, Lorraine Sandoval and Annette Garcia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, her husband Antonio, and her children Linda, Timothy and Benina Garcia.
Cremation was chosen and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 28th followed by a Memorial Mass 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021 both at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Interment of ashes will follow services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista.
