Obituary for Phyllis Anne Rendon



Longtime La Jara resident Phyllis Anne Rendon, 84, passed away on May 27, 2022. She was born on February 15, 1938 in Rochester, New York to George H. and Melinda C. (Filsinger) Germeroth. Phyllis was a long time educator, teaching in Manassa and La Jara for 25 years, but also teaching in Indiana and New Mexico prior to moving here. On August 19, 1980 she married Frank Rendon on a raft in the middle of the Rio Grande River. Phyllis had a passion for square dancing and traveling. She was a licensed caller and enjoyed participating in local and national square dancing events. She and Frank attended 7 state square dancing events and 7 national square dancing events. Frank and Phyllis took a trip to Europe together and were invited to participate in a square dancing event while there. Everyone spoke German, but the calling was in English. It turned out to be a precious memory that Frank will always treasure. Phyllis also enjoyed traveling with Frank, they had the opportunity to visit 38 states and even took one cruise after they retired.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Frank, her children Anne (John) Holmstrom, Brad (Darla) Weissenfels and Audrea Rendon, four granddaughters, two great grandchildren, sister-in-law Florence Germeroth, two nieces and one nephew as well as her faithful companion Misty.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George Germeroth.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday June 7, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamosa. Following the service inurnment will follow in the La Jara Cemetery. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
