Condolences

Condolence From: Steve & Marsha Bartsch
Condolence: We knew Phil from our days together at Farmhouse at K-State. We had not kept in touch, but Phil has been and will continue to be an important friend and fraternity brother. We loved his enthusiasm, mischievousness at times (we worked on the kitchen crew together), his intellect always astounded me. Our thoughts and prayers to all of the family.

Condolence: Dear Family of Phil Bogner,

Dr. Bogner was our family doctor for the nearly 20 years he practiced at Chula Vista Medical Center. Our children, Allison and Kevin, were two out of the nearly 1,000 babies he delivered. We have many fond memories of Phil and were saddened to read about his passing.

I had a very fast 1.25 hour labor with our second child, who also came two weeks early. During our fast 12 minute drive to the hospital, I was irrational and kept saying, “ I just know, Dr. Bogner isn’t going to be there. He didn’t believe me when I called and said I’m in labor.” Well he was there, took one look, got on his doctor garb, and one push later Kevin was born.

We will always have the utmost respect for Dr. Bogner. Our daughter, Allison, was continually sick and he diagnosed her with asthma. During this time, we developed a close doctor/patient relationship with him. There were many trips to Chula Vista and the hospital emergency room. He was always there for us.

It was a great loss to the medical community when Phil could no longer practice medicine. In later years, we would run into him from time to time. He would always ask about our children and surprisingly refer to them by name. (With delivering 1,000 babies, that’s a lot of names to remember) That’s who he was. He took great joy in being a doctor and we took great joy in telling him how much he meant to us as a physician.

Thank you for sharing your dad with us. I’m sure there were many sacrifices over the years when he would need to leave to go deliver a baby. He was very special.
