Obituary

Monte Vista resident Perry Lee Wilson, 66, peacefully passed away in the presence of his family, at home on April 30, 2020. He was born on October 21, 1953 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Frank and Floraine Wilson. On July 16, 1988 he married the love of his life, Sandra Crook in Manassa, Colorado.

All of his life, Perry was a hard worker. He owned and operated Diamond P Builders, building many beautiful custom homes throughout The San Luis Valley. He also owned and operated Diamond P Excavating, and this was his passion. He owned and operated a Turquoise Mine in Nevada with his brothers, Ronnie and Jerry.

Perry enjoyed fishing, camping, Navajo Lake, yard work and gardening, the Broncos, and trips to Mexico. His favorite season was fall and he loved roasting chili peppers. He loved to laugh and make others laugh with his storytelling. He will always be remembered as a generous man with a big heart for giving and a deep love for his family and friends.

Perry is survived by his spouse, Sandra Crook of Monte Vista, his children, Shannan (Donald) Bryant of Denver, Garrett (Lacey) Pringle of Jefferson, South Dakota, Charrie Wilson of Woodstock, Illinois, and Celeste (Ernest Mark Pacheco) Lestienne of North Carolina, as well as, his grandchildren, Crystal, Cambridge, Isaac, Annie, Courtney, Alaina, Emma, James, Avry, London, Amaya, Danielle, Brandon and Angela, his great grandchildren, Esperanza, Tobias, Jeremiah and Piper (on the way), his siblings, Ronnie Wilson, Donnie (Judy) Wilson and Jerry Wilson, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, especially, Freddy Torres and John Garcia, the remaining of the “Three Amigos.” His close friends John and Deb Braly, and Craig Blanchard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Loretta, and his son John Holfeltz.

Cremation was selected and a celebration of life service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the San Luis Valley Cancer Fund through San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center and may be made in care of the funeral home. Dear Wilson family,
I am so sorry for for your loss. I first got to know Perry in 2008. He did a lot of dirt work for me and we collaborated on several projects. He had such a positive demeanor and sense of humor he was really fun to work with. I will miss him greatly.

Sandra, i am so sorry for your lost. I've lost my long time childhood friend from Woodstock, IL. Perry and I met the summer before 6th grade and we did everything together until he moved back to Colorado. Over the years we didn't see each other as much as we both would have liked but we both knew we loved each other like brothers. He will be missed more than he knows. I've uploaded some old photos from 1968, 1971. 1974.
