Obituary for Peggy Romero

La Jara – Longtime La Jara resident Peggy Lou Romero, 61, passed away in her home on August 20, 2015. Peggy was born to Blas Gallegos and Daisy Lavato in Jaroso, Colorado on May 16, 1954. She married her loving husband, Ernest Romero, on July 31, 1970 and spent many happy years together.
Peggy was an amazing woman who always put her family before her self. She not only raised her own children but also had a major hand in raising her grand children and even her great grand children. Anywhere Peggys family was it was almost a guarantee to find Peggy there smiling and just glowing with her usual happiness. It wasn’t a rare site to see Peggy walking up and down the road of La Jara with a child on her arm just enjoying a short walk with one of the many people and children she loved so dearly.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband Ernest Romero of La Jara, and her children; Richard Romero of Alamosa, Darius Martinez-Anderson of Alamosa, and Briana Romero of La Jara. Her siblings; Robert Gallegos of Leadville, Colorado, Nick Gallegos of Redcliffe, Colorado, and Luis Gallegos of Leadville, Colorado. As well as five grandchildren and five great Grandchildren.
She was Preceded in death by her parents; Blas Gallegos and Daisy Lavato. Her daughter, Melissa “Missy” Romero, and her nephew, Jerome Gallegos.
