Obituary for Paul Frederick Smith

Paul “Bud” Frederick Smith, 81, of Manassa, CO passed away on January 7, 2022 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Bud was born on February 18, 1940 to Paul Monroe and Lula Mae Kapler Smith. He grew up with his five siblings in Cape Girardeau, MO, before the family moved to California.

It was in California, that Bud met the love of his life, Ina Jeanine Smith. Bud and Jeanine were married in Mexico, and for good measure, again in Virginia City, NV and had been married for over 59 years at the time of his passing.

He and Jeanine moved their family from California to Manassa in 1974, where he owned and operated "Bud's Cafe" for a time. His sense of humor and quick wit made him a favorite with co-workers and patrons alike.
In his younger years, Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool. He especially enjoyed watching football and spending time with his wife. Bud and Jeanine were always together, inseparable really, and spent their many years together taking loving and exceptional care of each other.

Bud has two grandchildren, Gage Paul Smith and Spencer Micheal Doyle. He loved them with all of his heart, and they could not have asked for a more loving grandfather.

Bud is survived by his wife Jeanine Smith of Manassa; his children John (Barbara) Maloy of Mesquite, NV, Max Jeffrey Smith of Manassa, James Smith of Manassa, and Rachael (Richard) Doyle of Aurora, CO; his grandchildren, Gage Smith and Spencer Doyle; as well as his brother Gerald Smith of Falbrook, CA; Bud was also blessed with a special niece whom he considered to be a bonus daughter, Debbie Nite Owens, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Roberta Humphreys, Pauletta Lyons, and Michael Smith.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a future date.
