Othelle James Reed passed away on July 22, 2015 at the Rio Grande Inn located in La Jara, Colorado. He was born in Sanford, Colorado on February 5, 1920 to James Arthur and Mary Phoebe DePriest Reed. He and Helen Reed celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on February 16, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Reed, his son Gary Reed and at a later date by his daughter, Donna Shepherd.

Othelle is survived by his son-in-law Kenneth Shepherd, daughter Lorna Whiting (Marvin), sons: James (Darlene), Paul (Marjorie), Mark (Susan), and Ray (Shanna). He was blessed with 31 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

He and Helen served church service missions in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Chicago, Denver and Albuquerque Temples.

Othelle was a committed husband and father who lived to serve in the church and community throughout his life.
A visitation will be held from 9:00-9:45 am Saturday July 25, 2015 in the Relief Society Room followed by a Funeral Service 10 a.m. at the Sanford Wards Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
