Obituary for Nancy Ann Morgan

Nancy Ann  Morgan
Nancy Ann Claunch Morgan, 84 Passed Away December 30th at her Home in Sanford Colorado. She was born on November 13, 1931 in Marshall Oklahoma to Floyd Leon Claunch and Birdie Fae Cook Claunch. When she was 3 years old her family moved to The San Luis Valley where she lived the rest of her life. She graduated from La Jara high School in 1949. After her father died when she was 14 she started working at the Telephone Company. She met her husband Bob when she was a senior in High School. They dated and were engaged in June of 1949. They were married on December 10, 1949 in Sanford. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of latter Day Saints in August of 1950. From this union they had 4 children. Bob died in 2000 after a long fight with cancer.

Nancy loved music, playing the piano was the love of her life. She started playing at a young age and played by ear. She was very close to her father because she played in his orchestra at age 11. Through her life she played in various bands. She also loved to sing all most as much as she loved to play the Piano. She sang in the church choir and in a trio with Judy Parrish and, Joyce Smith after Joyce moved to California they were joined by their friend Elva Kreps. They had a lot of fun together and joked around a lot. She also loved Gardening and enjoyed canning all the vegetables and fruits from her garden. Above all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

She worked at the Alamosa Hospital for 12 years and also was the Conejos County registrar for many years after that. She also worked as a secretary for the Romero and The Mogote Ditch Companies.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Robert Morgan, her parents Floyd Leon Claunch and Birdie Fae Claunch, Her father and mother in law Harry and June Morgan and one sister Joyce Layton Williams.

She is survived by Her 4 Children Bobby and Scott Morgan of Sanford, Deborah Hamilton of La Jara Colorado and Lori (Brian) Winters of Manassa Colorado. Six Grandchildren and four great Grandchildren. Two Brothers Bob ( Leona) Claunch of Alamosa Colorado, James (Karma) Claunch Utah, One Sister Sara (Buddy) Burnett of Orlando Florida and two sister in laws Harriet Brown Boulder Colorado and Loretta (Mark) Peterson Burley Idaho and many nieces and Nephews who loved her dearly.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday January 4, 2016 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa and from 10:00 to 10:45 in the Relief Society Room at the Church in Sanford. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sanford Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
