Sanford resident and former Pueblo resident Michael John Anaya “Big Mike”, 47, died December 4, 2021 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
Mike was born in Pueblo, Colorado on March 25, 1974 to Philip J. Anaya and Lori L. (Malone) Stilson. He married Jacqueline Marie VanLandingham in Pueblo, CO on July 14, 2001.
Mike worked for over 20 years in various sawmills including Greenleaf Sawmill in Westcliffe, for Miller’s farm and for Allpine Lumber Company. He was a faithful husband, loving father and friend. He had a good work ethic and was a hard worker. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed and will be remembered as a good person.
Mike was a bit of a Jack of all Trades. A collector of many items and hobbies including hunting, fishing, hiking, farming, livestock, and spending quality time with his loving family members and friends. Michael enjoyed the simple things in life such as a beautiful mountain view.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Pueblo; his children Lindsey, Ian, Lucas, Alyssa, Ayden, Jack, Noah and Maisie; his parents Philip (Kelly) Anaya of Pueblo and Lori (Skip) Stilson of Pueblo; his siblings Phil (Jessica) Anaya, Aaron Anaya, Cari (Dustin) DeMille, Rylon (Kevin) Ryder, Bobby (Crystal) Childers and Amanda (Zach) Debono; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Michael’s memory will live on in our hearts forever. He will be missed but never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd (Maisie) Anaya and Jack (Betty Lou) Malone.
Michael will be laid to rest at his family property in Westcliffe, CO.
