Monte Vista – Longtime Monte Vista resident Matilda Rita Valdez Golden, 64, passed away on October 13, 2014 in Alamosa. She was born on February 19, 1950 to Juan and Brenilda Valdez in Monte Vista, Colorado. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, watching Dancing With The Stars, gardening and above all spending time with her family especially holidays and playing board games with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Heather (Venancio) Rodelas, her grandchildren, Julissa and Fabian Rodelas, her brothers and sisters; Priscilla Aguirre, Leroy (Eva) Valdez, Rudy (Kathyrn) Valdez, Sam (Linda) Valdez and Marcella Chavez as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Jerry Valdez and her brother-in-laws, Pete Chavez and Ruben Aguirre.
Cremation was selected and a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday October 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A private family service and inurnment will follow at a later date.
